Last Week to Win Makeup Wakeup!

A lot of makeup/beauty books and videos come to my attention, but Makeup Wakeup is the best “how-to” book I’ve seen for women over 40. Written by legendary makeup artist, Sandy Linter, and founding editor and former beauty and fashion director of MORE Magazine, Lois Joy Johnson, Makeup Wakeup shows every woman how to revitalize and update her makeup.

It’s like trading beauty secrets with your girlfriends, only these girlfriends have helped define what it means to look our best at any age.

For the last 40 years, Sandy Linter and Lois Joy Johnson have made the top celebrities, supermodels and heads of state cover ready, and they’ve shared all of their tricks in Makeup Wakeup. Some of their best supermodel and celebrity girlfriends bare all–wrinkles, freckles and lip lines–in 8″ x 10″ color “before” and “after” head shots. I’ve read and re-read this book, underlined passages and have yellow Post-It notes on half a dozen pages. It’s my go-to before I buy a new product.

Sandy and Lois start with moisturizers, primers, foundation, concealers, etc., giving us their favorite brands and shades that are flattering to women, and why, whether we’re fair skinned or women of color. Sixty-three pages are devoted to Botox, plastic surgery, top dermatologists and surgeons and should you get some work done: yes, no, maybe.

Makeup-something I’m not very good at, but would like to be! A good resource is worth it’s weight in gold…

I need this one! I love dabbling with putty and paint, but the surfaces are shifting so I could use some new tools!

I downloaded this book to my Kindle after seeing you feature it, Brenda and it’s fantastic! Thanks for the tip.
