Green Color Trend for 2017

When I heard that green is the color of the year for 2017, I had to laugh. Why? Over the years I’ve had various shades of green walls in a few rooms in my home. My woodwork and cabinets are a cream color, and the green was striking against it. However I got tired of it, and in the last year repainted the rooms a more neutral color. I guess I can look at it that I was ahead of the trend.

Green Walls are In

Nothing freshens up a room as much as paint, and it’s the easiest way to make a dramatic change. Going green will do just that.

The following is a beautiful example of stunning green walls shown in Traditional Home. The color pops with the white moulding.

Stunning Green Walls

At Scandinavian Home Staging, they’re featuring a hint of teal in their green walls. Painting the woodwork the same color gives a whole different feel to the room.

In this photo a similar green is shown with white woodwork.

Statement Lacquered Walls

Last year we toured a gorgeous condo in NYC overlooking Central Park. It was over-the-top beautiful! The whole condo was neutral except for one accent wall which was a lacquered teal. A gorgeous jewel tone color that felt so fresh and rich with the extra shine! Simply stunning.

Love green walls…have a few of them! Glad they’re coming back in. I was contemplating making some changes, so now I won’t. I met a woman this past week, who has some involvement in a committee which meets annually to determine the colors which will be in use for the following year: walls, fabrics, even cars! Over coffee, I put in a word for green! I remember a time when there were NO green cars. Then in the late 90s or early 2000s, green cars became popular…starting with that sage green, earthy color. Then they went away. Color in design is fascinating.

I love the intense green against the white trim and the teal is magnificent. But, not in my house. I like creamy whites, linen and soft beiges on my walls. Boring to some but serene and a great backdrop for art. I do like a touch of muted green in accessories.
I don’t wear green, excepting olive and would never buy a green car ( they date too quickly ).
Having said all that, I love those rooms. Conflicting? Yes!
